The technology behind inflatable surfboards has been tried and tested for years.Today, it’s the perfect solution for surfing anytime without worrying about transportation or storage issues.
We’ve been producing inflatable boards for years, which means we have complete mastery of their technology and manufacturing. At the same time, we also produce an extensive catalog of traditional surfboards. As surfers ourselves, we offer a complete range of inflatable surfboards that cater to various conditions and all skill levels.
Why choose an inflatable surfboard?
Inflatable surfboards stand out for their key qualities:
Ease of storage and transport
Durability
Safety
Simplicity
Ultra-easy to store and transport, whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, this is the ultimate hassle-free board. Keep it in your trunk, and you’ll never miss a session again.
The inflatable surfboard is a revolution in the world of surfing. While a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) is 15 cm thick, an inflatable surfboard is only 7.5 cm thick. This reduced thickness offers better grip, providing a performance closer to that of a rigid board made of composite materials.
To maintain stiffness despite the reduced thickness, the board is built with thermo-welded double-layer PVC and a high-end Drop Stitch structure. These are the same materials used in premium inflatable SUP boards.
All our inflatable boards are equipped with a semi-rigid rail on the rear third, which improves water flow and mimics the rails of a rigid board. These rails allow for sharper edge control, increased maneuverability, and more precise handling.
Our boards are also equipped with a unique fin box system that we’re the only ones to offer: FCS II fin boxes, which allow you to attach fins with just a click. No tools are needed when you’re at the beach.
Setup is incredibly simple—it won’t take you more than a minute to inflate your board and hit the water.
The entire set fits into a large, ultra-practical backpack with enough space to store your wetsuit as well.
Safety is also a key advantage of this range of inflatable boards. Not only are they extremely durable, but their structure also protects against impacts—for both the board and the surfer. You can safely introduce any beginner to surfing without worrying about injuries.
Are inflatable surfboards suitable for beginners?
These boards are perfect for beginners but are also ideal for advanced surfers who are looking for a fun and easy-to-transport board.
What shape and size should you choose?
All GONG inflatable surfboards are user-friendly, practical, and durable. You’ll progress quickly and have a lot of fun with these boards. However, there are different programs and styles:
The Compacts: Super reactive boards, perfect for soft waves.
The Shortboards: Ideal for waves with a bit of power.
The Longboards: Provide plenty of comfort and stability for small waves and noserides.
The I-SURF COMPACT is the ideal board for soft waves and steep shore breaks where a small board is needed to smoothly handle the slope. It paddles quickly for its size thanks to its thickness. At takeoff, you just need to push the tail slightly, and you’re off with just a few strokes. Its surfing qualities are impressive, with a very wide rear third that naturally generates a lot of speed for acceleration. Surprisingly, it turns very well thanks to its compact and playful size. Its performance in surfing is stunning for an inflatable board.
The I-SURF SHORTBOARD, with its generous volume, is super easy to use and will surprise you with its maneuverability and speed. This board encourages progression without any stress. It’s ideal for steeper or faster waves, but it’s also perfect for those who want to combine paddling speed with high maneuverability. Its versatility makes it suitable for most surf sessions.
The I-SURF LONGBOARD is the perfect board for long, soft waves, as well as for anyone looking to combine paddling speed with comfort. It’s the ultimate hassle-free board. Its wide range of use is mainly geared toward small waves, but it can also handle steeper conditions for experienced surfers.
Which model should you choose?
The Compact model is mainly aimed at advanced surfers. It’s an ideal travel board, taking up minimal space for transportation. It’s small enough to fit in an airplane, a car trunk, or even on the luggage rack of your SOLEX.
The Longboard and Shortboard models are primarily intended for beginners. The inflatable structure is extremely durable and resistant to impacts, making it very forgiving during the learning phase while significantly reducing the risk of injuries in case of collisions. This is the most affordable construction, ideal for starting out without breaking the bank.
The 6’3 is suited for beginner to intermediate surfers with a light to medium build. It’s also great for heavier surfers with real surfing experience.
The 7’3 is aimed at beginner to intermediate surfers with a medium to heavy build. It’s also fantastic for lighter surfers who want to start on a very comfortable yet maneuverable board. These two models are also the best choices for kids learning to surf.
The 8’0 is for beginners of all builds looking for versatility.
The 9’0 is for beginners of all builds who want a true longboard experience.
These boards have generous volumes, keeping you high on the water, which makes paddling easier.
The length of the board also depends on the wave size. For surfing 30 cm waves, the 8’ and 9’ boards are unbeatable, though these boards can handle much larger waves. For the smallest waves, a minimum hip-high wave size is required.
What equipment is included with my inflatable surfboard?
Included equipment:
The board, of course 😉
A set of 3 FCS II fins.
A double-action pump (15 psi) with a pressure gauge and connectors.
A transport bag.
A repair kit.
Which fins?
The fins provided with these boards are more than sufficient—they are the same fins that come with our rigid boards. The fin boxes used for these boards are FCS II boxes. These are the most widely used standard fin boxes in the surfing world. This allows you to test other sizes and shapes as much as you like. And in case of loss, replacing them is incredibly easy since these are the same fins used on over 90% of surfboards worldwide.
GONG is also the first brand to equip its inflatable boards with FCS II boxes, meaning you don’t need any tools, just clip the fins in place.
These boards are designed to make your life easier, both in and out of the water. Everything has been thoughtfully designed to simplify setup and use while maintaining excellent performance.
Wax or no wax ?
A full, comfortable deck pad covers the board in all the strategic spots, so there’s no need to wax it before each session or switch wax every season. In short, just inflate, put on your wetsuit, and you’re good to go!
What about inflation?
To give you an idea, it takes just 45 seconds to inflate the 6’3! Our boards come with a dual-action pump featuring two settings that allow for quick inflation and easy pressure adjustment. Our boards are inflated to a pressure of 15 to 20 PSI. The pumps are equipped with a pressure gauge, so you can know the exact pressure.
Each board comes with an instruction manual and a user guide explaining how to inflate your board, install the fins, deflate it, and maintain it. You can also find this guide online.
