GEAR: THE REVOLUTIONARY PERFORMANCE OF OUR TEAM SERIES KITES!
A thinner structure in UPE Aramid and a double profile give the Ayto and Elips Aramid DP a level of...
The Elips Aramid DP is an ultra-versatile 3-strut kite, incredibly effective in waves, but also exceptional for foiling and twin tip freeriding.
The Elips Aramid DP combines extreme maneuverability, lightness, and power, delivering a lively and user-friendly kite suitable for all conditions.
Designed to blend aggressive kiteloops with aerodynamic efficiency, this kite demonstrates exceptional versatility thanks to its 3-strut DNA.
With its lightweight construction, the Elips Aramid DP raises the market’s most appreciated standard to unprecedented levels: responsiveness, stability, extended range, and maximum versatility. Its refined shape offers speed and precision, while impressive low-end power allows comfortable riding even in light wind.
Its innovative Double Profile (DP) technology dramatically enhances flight quality, providing smooth airflow and boosting overall kite performance by 30%. This results in improved stability, speed, and control, whether riding waves, foiling, or twin tip freeriding.
The design of the tips draws direct inspiration from the Low Drag System developed for our wings. These ultra-thin tips, energized by a slim carbon strut, reduce drag significantly and ensure perfect glide. The result is precise handling, minimal inertia, and exemplary responsiveness for a lively kite.
When foiling, the Elips Aramid DP excels from as little as 6-8 knots with a 9m² kite, thanks to record-breaking efficiency and stability. Its exceptional maneuverability and predictable behavior inspire confidence even in marginal conditions. The kite’s refined flight characteristics and immense depower prevent being overpowered in higher winds, ensuring comfortable and safe sessions.
Equally ideal for twin tip freeriding, it proves incredibly user-friendly even for intermediate riders. Lightweight and intuitive, it facilitates rapid progression due to immediate handling ease. It offers just the right amount of power for smooth riding, and its consistent maneuverability encourages trick after trick. It’s the perfect kite for progressing without fully committing to 100% big air, ideal for a fluid riding style combining low kite tricks with a wide range of moderate jumps.
Developed and validated by Airton and Francesco, the Elips Aramid DP blends power, versatility, safety, and pure enjoyment. A lively, precise kite designed to perform everywhere, anytime, without ever reaching its limits.
The Double Profile concept is a real revolution in the world of kiting.
By integrating a second skin on the intrados, we eliminate internal disturbances behind the leading edge which slow down the kite.
The air flows freely and the kite's glide is boosted.
A crucial element of this double skin is its adaptive role: it tenses or relaxes depending on the conditions. Unlike a rigid structure, it allows dynamic adjustment which optimizes the performance of the kite.
When the wind is light, the internal profile inflates to stabilize the kite.
In full power conditions, the double skin arches to improve aerodynamics and accelerate the kite impressively.
Your kite is stable, super fast and responsive while remaining easy to fly.
A major development of this Elips Aramid DP lies in the revolutionary material of its inflatable structure.
GONG has first innovated with this material in wing foiling.
UPE Aramid is the lightest and stiffest material on the market on selected axes. Depending on the angulation of the Aramid mesh, we control the stretching axes and release the rotation axes. This means that we have the possibility of reducing the diameters, and therefore the drag and the weight, for the same behavior. Of course our research focused on an optimal and diffused reduction to preserve the twisting qualities, which are essential to the design of a maneuverable kite, while locking the C of the shape.
The sensations in the hands are simply astonishing. The kite is both one of the stiffest and one of the lightest, while remaining incredibly maneuverable: a whole new experience of flight and precision/feeling. It’s simply incredible and perfectly in line with our desire to offer the best.
At 85g/m2 (2 times less than Dacron!), this UPE Aramid present on the leading edge and the struts ensures an unparalleled gain in reactivity.
In addition to its exceptional mechanical properties, this material also has a very low absorption rate. The kite gains very little weight when wet.
And this material is also very resistant to tearing, an important point when launching on some sketchy spots.
Obviously, a superb material without perfect assembly is worthless, and we have worked in infinite detail to ensure the reliability of the technical solutions for its implementation. For this, we have tested all known assemblies on traction machines and innovated with new and exclusive assembly methods at GONG to surpass the standards. Our kites have never been so robust.
Better than gold !!!
Its 3-strut design is the best compromise between rigidity and lightness, offering tremendous versatility. The 3 struts provide excellent responsiveness while maintaining profile stability for control. These qualities enhance its range of use and performance. It's a reactive and lightweight wing that responds perfectly in maneuvers, a big advantage in waves but also in larger sizes that remain agile.
This balance between stability and lightness promotes the overall equilibrium of the kite in all its uses, which is essential for progression. This kite is typically designed to smooth out errors and encourage trying new things.
With 3 struts, it's also the best design for traveling with a kite that does everything while remaining lightweight in luggage.
The new reduced diameter bridles minimize drag while maintaining impeccable mechanical characteristics. The kite flies much sleeker.
Your Elips adapts to your preferences thanks to adjustments on both the rear and front bridles:
- Outward for more power, less bar presence, a slightly wider turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.
- Inward for a less powerful kite in the front/harness, faster turning, and more depower.
- The central adjustment for perfect versatility.
The new short bridling system enhances feedback, resulting in a much more direct feeling. Combined with a pulley-less system, it yields a precise and swift kite. The Elips is a demanding kite designed for experienced pilots.
The Elips's moderate ratio offers a very stable feeling that allows for fun in all conditions, especially in gusty winds and windless spots, as well as in full onshore conditions. With this compact kite, we have the best balance between power and maneuverability, perfect for wave riding.
The power of the kite is applied even at low speeds. You can feel well supported in the air. The feedback is clear and allows for easy adjustment. This linearity in the kite's power is combined with a bridling system that allows for instant depowering. Everything is under control.
Everything about this Elips is designed to make you feel confident to push it to the limit. It's an incredibly instinctive and safe kite that just begs to be moved in every direction.
The highly curved leading edge facilitates the rotation of the kite on the water to position it on one ear for easy relaunching. This ability is essential for quickly getting back into the waves, for example.
The Elips also relaunches easily in reverse by pulling strongly on both back lines, which is essential for avoiding troubles in the set. The double profile generates no problem at all thanks to its openings along each strut. Even after a few rolls in the waves, it takes off again on its own.
Technical sheet
- outwards of the kite for more power, less bar presence, a slightly wider turning radius, and more stability for freestyle.
- inwards for a less powerful kite in the front/harness that turns faster and more depower.
- the central adjustment for perfect versatility.
Buying guide
Queen of waves, it will definitely appeal more to surfers looking for fast and committed turns. But that's not all, because in the Team Series version, it's incredibly versatile. Perfect for freeride twintip, it will also appeal to foilers.
The Elips DP is a kite that turns instantly. With an endlessly adjustable turning radius, outstanding stability and drift, it excels in surfing. This turning ability also makes it perfect for freeride and even basic freestyle loops. The Ayto DP will be the kite of choice for double loops though.
Rather powerful and light, it's a kite mostly ridden in light wind conditions to favor maneuverability. But it's also extremely stable in high winds, no worries there. Its program is more about taking the most efficient small kite possible on a surfboard, but it will also be great on a twin tip if you want to switch things up.
Display: the freeride kite for rapid progression.
Vertigo: high-performance kite for all disciplines from unhooked to surfing.
Ayto: the ultimate 5-strut kite for big air and kite loops.
Unik: lightweight mono-strut freeride kite for light wind, foiling, and waves.
Strutless: super light kite for light wind and freeride/freerace.
Strutless Revo: ultra-light and maneuverable kite for foiling and surfing.
Elips: the ultimate kite for waves.
Ayto DP: The big air kite in an ultra high performance version.
Elips DP: Unmatched performance in waves and perfect versatility from twin tip to kite foiling.
Thanks to its double profile, lightness and rigidity, the Elips DP has an ultra stable and easy-to-control high wind range. However, it's a kite that you'll mostly ride in light wind conditions for its power and maneuverability work wonders in light wind.
Choose your kite following our recommendations below. Wind ranges always depend on your weight, skill level, and the board you're using!
Keep in mind that the longer your bar, the easier it will be to turn your kite. Also, remember that the smaller the kite, the easier it will turn. So, the smaller the kite, the more you need a smaller bar to balance behaviors.
Conversely, the larger your kite and the more you use it in light wind, the slower it will be. A longer bar will have a greater leverage effect to compensate for this natural loss of reactivity.
Therefore, consider these parameters to choose the size of your bar and adapt the steering to the feeling you like and the conditions encountered.
If you want smooth and progressive steering, then you should “undersize” the bar. If you want more reactive but less forgiving steering, you should choose a longer bar.
For example, if I want smoother steering with my 9m2, then I will go for a 46cm bar.
If I want hyper-reactive steering, then I would go for the 52cm bar.
Oversizing the bar will have little interest and paradoxically will result in a feeling of heaviness in steering in the case of the 62cm. This one will be perfect, even essential in light wind. But in stronger winds, it will be slower to untwist and manipulate.
Between the 46 and the 52, there is no sensation of heaviness. These are two very close bars.
Note also that the 52 is perfectly usable on all our kites. No kite will not work or perform poorly for this reason. The 46, 57 and 62 are just optimizations for perfectionists.
It should also be noted that two bars generally age only half as fast as a single bar for the whole quiver ?
The key size is 52cm; it is the most versatile bar that you should choose if you want to have only one bar for a quiver 7-9-12 or 8-11 or even 8-10-13. If you want to add a second bar to your quiver, here are our recommendations with GONG kites:
The recommendations below are based on the behavior of GONG kites. Since our bars are compatible with a large number of kites, you can adjust your choice according to the type of kite used.
Your Feel-X bar comes standard with 80cm front lines, 19m of lines, and 3m extensions already mounted. The original setup is the most versatile and will be your best choice for 90% of your sessions.
One of the main advantages of the Feel-X bar is its great tolerance provided by its shape. By playing with its lengths, or even modifying them with our extensions (sold separately), you further enhance its versatility!
Note that 22m and 19m are not extreme line lengths and remain a fine adjustment to your piloting sensation.
Equipments
All our kites are obviously compatible with our FEEL-X bar but also with 95% of the bars on the market. If in doubt, equip yourself with a complete set (x4) of pigtails: PIGTAILS.
Remember to equip yourself with a pump ;-)

The Elips DP is a very maneuverable kite that’s radical in the waves. It allows for the most technical moves with very precise piloting. This ultra responsiveness will not be suitable for intermediate levels, it is a kite for pro wave riders!
It's a kite that can do it all. With its shape inherited from the Ayto DP for big air, the Elips DP has that dynamic side needed in other disciplines. In twin tip for example it is aggressive, or in kitefoil to perform radical moves with an extraordinary rotation speed and drift.
The choice between the 2 versions will depend on your level and the degree of “explosiveness” you are looking for!
The Perf Series are ultra versatile and allow you to perform in the waves from a confirmed level. They remain tolerant and allow you to forgive placement or piloting errors.
The Elips DP is there to perform at 200%. The responsiveness is instantaneous and the driving sporty! This is the model that we will choose for unlimited performance and an expert level.
Particularly rounded, it flips over in a second and relaunches. An important element to take into account, the rigidity at the level of the tips will make its re-launch more technical than the Perf Series version but without worry for an experienced kiter. The double skin is just as simple to relaunch thanks to its numerous water evacuations at the level of the slats.
In our ultra-comprehensive range, we have different "wave" kites. Depending on your conditions and level, you should lean towards one model rather than another.
Display: The freeride kite, excellent for fast progression, is also a very pleasant kite in the waves for its highly stable flight qualities and maneuverability. A very good kite to try surfing without difficulty.
Vertigo: This high-performance freeride kite is a jack-of-all-trades that will also perform well in the waves with its maneuverability and responsiveness. Its range of use is also an undeniable quality in surfing to avoid being overwhelmed.
Ayto: 100% big air and kite loops, this kite is extreme. But counterintuitively, it is also excellent in surfing with its supersonic speed and formidable maneuverability. Pro pilot only!
Unik: This light wind kite and rather underpowered navigation is fantastic in surfing. Firstly because it's so light that you forget about it. Secondly, because it stays glued to the sky, far from punishing you for the slightest piloting error.
Strutless Revo: The ultimate kite for its maneuverability in foil, it's also delightful for purists in surfing. You kite to surf, and only to surf: that's exactly what it offers.
Elips: The queen of waves, this kite has everything we love in a kite designed for surfing: maneuverability, stability, resourcefulness, drift, precision, tolerance, incredible low-end range, fine piloting, it's the queen of the spot.
The Elips is a pro-level kite designed for waves. Its pulley-less bridles, like the Ayto, give it a highly reactive and direct behavior, ideal for surfing.
We have opted for a short bridle without pulleys. This type of bridle is both the lightest and the strongest. It reduces drag for a kite that's always more responsive. It also facilitates relaunching by minimizing the risk of snagging.
The Elips has been developed to work with the FeelX bar. Our bar features 4 lines of equal lengths and a low V on the front lines.
The attachments for the lines at the bridle level are:
To increase the longevity of your gear, both how you use it and its regular maintenance are crucial.
A key point during usage is not to leave your kite inflated for long periods without use! Flapping in the wind can cause premature wear of the materials, as can prolonged exposure to UV rays.
Frequent rinsing of your kite with running water is also not recommended. The chlorine in tap water can damage the surface treatments of your kite. However, you should favor storing your kite dry and remove any excess sand.
Always rinse your bar with fresh water to remove sand and salt. Also, remember to open the safety release to rinse the inside. Let it dry before reassembling.
In case of a torn strut or leading edge, use your repair kit, or check our spare parts section to order a replacement piece.
Systematically inspect the condition of your kite. Identify any holes or cuts and repair them before they worsen.
If you have damaged your kite due to improper use, you can have it repaired directly at the GONG workshop by contacting our sailmaker.
More information on how to maintain your kite can be found on the Forum.
