Choosing an Aramid wing or an Aramid X wing?
Aramid and Aramid X wings share identical shapes and feature an inflatable UPE Aramid structure, making them lightweight, ultra-rigid, and delivering incredibly precise control. They differ in the materials used for their canopy, which affects their behavior and stretch resistance.
1. A Different Canopy Material
- Aramid X wings use a denser canopy material (Code X) that is extremely resistant to stretch and wear. If long-term durability is a priority—especially in demanding conditions or if you've experienced canopy deformation with other wings—this is a significant advantage.
- Aramid wings, with their lighter triple ripstop fabric, are already durable but focus on weight reduction, making them ideal for effortless handling in marginal wind conditions.
2. Power and Efficiency
- An Aramid X wing has a firmer profile due to its material, generating more power per square meter. Riders often find they can size down by 0.5m compared to the Aramid while maintaining similar low-end power. This makes the setup feel more compact and maneuverable.
- An Aramid wing, on the other hand, is lighter and slightly more forgiving during transitions like jibes, especially in very light winds. Its reduced weight helps keep the wing flying more easily when the wind momentarily drops.
